Gift Of Life

Gift of Life is a program begun in 1974 by several American Districts of Rotary International. Since then some 6000 children from more than 36 countries have received cardiovascular life saving operations in the United States. In 1986, District Governor Arthur Scialla and other Rotarians, began the program in Northern N.J. and founded the Rotary International District 7490 Gift of Life Foundation. Currently, over 375 children have been hosted by our District for life saving heart surgery.

Project Haiti

The Ridgewood A.M. Rotary supports group of young men and boys in Haiti. Hope House, located in the city Les Cayes on the southern coast of Haiti, is a safe place for orphans, street children who have no place to go, for the abandoned and abused or neglected. Hope House provides food, clothing, a clean bed and the opportunity for children to either go to school or to learn a marketable skill. Rotary helps with clothing, repairs to the building, medical needs both through financial resources and hands-on activities. For more information, visit the website, www.freethekids.org

Theo's Work

Theo’s Work Inc. is a US non-profit organization with a mission to alleviate the devastating effects of poverty on children in Haiti. TWI was founded in 1997 by former US Navy chaplain, Father Marc Boisvert, who had been assigned to work with Haitian refugees being held in Cuba.

He now directs Project Hope ("Pwoje Espwa" in Creole) in Les Cayes, the third largest city in Haiti. TWI supports this humanitarian mission from its volunteer run offices in the United States.
