The Rotary Club passes a major milestone of plastic film collection and TREX park bench donations

Updated: Mar 6, 2022

The Rotary Club of Ridgewood AM collected more than a ton of plastic since the spring of 2020. The collections come from Rotary Club members, friends, businesses and family members. The initiative is part of TREX recycling which produces park benches made from recycled plastic film (aka plastic bags, etc.). The only requirement is a charity be named as the recipient of the donated bench and a collection of 500 lbs. is required per bench.

In particular, we thank Lisa Sammataro who along with Anne Bosch organized the collection as well as coordination with TREX. We also thank Jay Fowler who has become very skilled at assembling benches which come with instructions and require assembly. To date, donated benches have been delivered to Unbridled Heroes in Allendale, The Glen Rock Dog Park, West Bergen Mental Health and os well as other designated non profit organizations.
